MARINER, Marguerite

Marguerite Nichols Mariner of Peoria, AZ, passed away on January 20th, 2004 after a brave six-year battle against colon cancer. Marguerite ('Meg') was born in Helena, Montana on April 10, 1953, and was raised in Southern California - the youngest daughter of Virginia M. Weiss and Jackson R. Nichols. At age thirteen she met her husband John M. Mariner. They dated for several years and married in a civil ceremony on May 4th, 1974. On January 28th, 1977 Meg and John were sealed in a sacred LDS ceremony in the Provo Temple, UT. Marguerite was a gifted pianist who studied music performance at Cal State Fullerton and taught beginning piano students all of her life. Her days were filled with activity as a mother, LDS Church leader, and friend to all. Residing in Arizona since 1982, Marguerite was the sacred core of her family's temporal and spiritual growth. Her husband John, her sons Chris and Jason, her daughter Elizabeth, along with her five grandchildren will miss her. Brief visitation was held on Friday, January 23rd, 2004, followed immediately by Funeral Service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 22034 N. 83rd Ave (N. of Deer Valley Rd on 83rd Ave.) Published in the Arizona Republic on 1/22/2004.
