Resident of Yavapai 46 Years Is Called
An old-timer of Yavapai county, Peter Jusyong, 81 years of age, died Monday at the Yavapai county hospital following a heart attack. He was entered as a patient from Cottonwood about ten days ago.
A native of Denmark, where birth occurred August 30, 1854, the son of Peter and Mary Schanson Jusyong, he came to Arizona in 1882 and two years later became a naturalized citizen of the United States in Apache county.
Jusyong was a shoemaker by occupation and followed that trade first in Holbrook a year and a half, then in Winslow for five years. The rest of the time, more than 46 years, he had resided in the Verde Valley.
On July 1, 1933, he began drawing a $ 15 monthly old age pension, which was increased to $ 20 the first of July 1934, and to $ 25 last July 1. He was pensioner No. 76 in the county, and the forty-fourth to have died.
Jusyong was a widower and had no relatives, he said. When he entered the hospital he asked that friends, Jack Falk and Charles C. Stemmer, of Cottonwood be notified in case of emergency.
The body is at the Scott and McMillan mortuary in Jerome.
