Edna Stockton Vance, 88, of Tempe, Arizona, died January 22, 2004.
Edna was born in Rugby, Tennessee and moved to Arizona in 1926.
She graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.S. degree in Physical Education and became a school teacher. She taught in the Phoenix Elementary School District for 34 years. During World War II, Edna served with the American Red Cross in both England and Germany. Edna and her late husband, Charles Vance, also bred and raised thoroughbred horses. Their horses won the Arizona Breeders Cup two years in a row.
Edna was preceded in death by her beloved Charles in 1995. She is survived by her son, Jeff Vance; daughter, Ann Cahill; sister, Edith Stockton; and 6 grandchildren.
