The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Thursday, July 20, 2006 Wendy Christine Schmidt-Chapp, 41, passed away from this world on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, following a brief illness. Wendy was born in Spring Valley, N.Y, on July 15, 1965, to Donald A. and Sharon C. (Trautman) Schmidt. In addition to her parents, Wendy is survived by her husband, David Chapp of Mesa, Ariz., whom she married on March 20, 2001; his parents Bill and Neva Chapp of Wymore, Neb.; her sisters Leah (John) Casabonne of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Karyn (Kevin Millar) Schmidt of Issaquah, Wash.; her uncle, John Marinacci of Walton, N.Y.; and her cousins Lori (Marinacci) Peluso, Boni Marinacci and Jodi Marinacci of Stony Point, N.Y. Wendy was preceded by her paternal grandparents Arthur and Emma Schmidt and maternal grandparents Frank and Suzann Trautman, her aunt Jean Schmidt (Marinacci), and cousin Keri Marinacci. Wendy attended Tompkins Cove Elementary School and Stony Point Middle School in Stony Point, N.Y., and then later attended Bolton Central School after her family moved from southern New York to the beautiful northern Adirondack Mountain town of Bolton Landing, on Lake George. After earning a Bachelor of Music Degree at Crane School of Music at S.U.N.Y. Potsdam, N.Y., Wendy then concluded her academics in Arizona earning a Masters Degree in Saxophone Pedagogy. Playing and teaching music defined Wendy's lifelong passion. Wendy's true gift was not just her affinity for music; the truest gifts came from her heart. She thrived on the long hours she spent working with students, passing her love and appreciation for music on to future generations. She was also an avid outdoorswoman, spending countless weekends fishing, camping, and relaxing along the Mogollon Rim. Wendy was selfless, always helping others in need without question. She was a loving and dedicated wife to her husband, a staunch supporter of her family and friends, and an inspiration to those that had the opportunity to know her. Our beloved Wendy, may you now be at peace for eternity, having left the physical bonds of this world behind. Take your beside your family that have gone before you and forever reside in God's grace and love. Watch over your family still here on earth, as we will always love and miss you. We will all meet again one day. We have you to thank for so many blessings we enjoy in our lives and the joyous memories of you as a wife, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. The sound of your music will echo through eternity. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan 6, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Gilbert, Ariz., with the Rev. Carlos Gomez officiating. There will also be a memorial service held on Wednesday, Jan 10. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made at any Chase Bank branch to the Wendy Schmidt, Foundation.
