VENNELL, Ronald Murray (Ron)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, July 21, 2006 Ronald Murray "Ron" Vennell, of Paulden, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 18, 2006, while pursuing one of his favorite pastimes, camping in Williams, Arizona, with his wife and grandson. Ron had been a Paulden resident for nine years. Ron was born, one of seven children, at Wilson's Beach, Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada on May 4, 1937, the son of James Joseph Vincent Vennell and Marguerite Louise (Newman) Vennell. He was married to Betty Louise Bassett in Westfield, Massachusetts, on May 17, 1958. Ron enjoyed being an active member of the Chino Valley United Methodist Church, serving on numerous committees, one of his favorites being the M.O.P.S. group where he was able to relate with the children that he so loved and who so loved him. He was also a member of the Emmaus community and was active with the Minutemen organization in southern Arizona. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Pamela Jean Perez of Chino Valley; a son, David Paul of Glendale; three grandsons, Christopher Paul Langhammer of Paulden, Stephen Tyier Spohn and Thomas Lyie Perez of Chino Valley; a brother, Vernon Roland of Lubec, Maine; and two sisters, Marcella Hammer of Vernon, Connecticut, and Betty (BJ) Maiorca of Manchester, Connecticut. A "Celebration of Life" ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2006, at 4 p.m. at the Chino Valley United Methodist Church at 735 East Road 1 South, Chino Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the M.O.P.S. group at the church in Ron's memory. Information provided by survivors.
