Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Wednesday, November 16, 2011 Dr. Robert E. Wooldridge, 88, of Flagstaff died Saturday Nov 12, 2011 at the Ponderosa Pines Care Center under the care of Hospice Compassus. Bob Wooldridge was born in Claremore, Okla. on Jan. 28, 1923 to Dewey Mae Picaman and Hampton E. Wooldridge. He received his bachelor's degree from Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, Okla. Served in World War II. Received a master's degree in education from Oklahoma A&M and earned a doctorate in education from the University of Missouri. He began his teaching career at Modesto High School, Modesto, Calif., in 1948. In 1959 moved to Cheney, Wash. taking a position as assistant, later associate, professor at Eastern Washington State College. He served as chief technical advisor to the government of East Pakistan, Education Directorate through a project of the Ford Foundation in 1965. Dr. Wooldridge came to NAU in 1967. While at NAU, he served as chairman of the Department of Industrial Education and developed the Construction Management curriculum. He retired in 1988 as professor emeritus. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, wood turning, and welding. Bob was also a charter member of the Malpais Kiwanis. Dr. Robert E. Wooldridge is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley; daughters Pamela Hightower and Nancy Barker; sons David (Ann) and Scott (Ginette); and seven grandchildren, Rafferty Wooldridge, Jason Hightower, Robert Wooldridge, Heather Hightower, James Wooldridge, Lorraine Barker and Randy Barker. Services are scheduled on November 21st at 11am at the Federated Church, Flagstaff, AZ. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to AZ-APDA (Arizona Chapter American Parkinson Disease Association), 5905 E. Pima Street, Tucson, AZ 85712.
