Joseph A. Ferstl Jr., 57, Prescott, Ariz., formerly of this area, died Sept. 21, 1991, at a hospital in Prescott. He was born in Kansas City and lived in Washington, D.C., before he moved to Prescott three years ago.
Mr. Ferstl worked for the Central Intelligence Agency, retiring in 1988. He was active in Prescott politics after he retired. He was an administrative assistant for Sen. Carl Hayden of Arizona from 1960 to 1969. He was a Catholic.
He received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Arizona in 1959 and a master's degree in political science from the American University, Washington, in 1965.
He was a Marine veteran and later served in the Army Reserve.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn M. Ferstl of the home; two sons, Franz Ferstl, Alexandria, Va., and Kurt Ferstl, Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Suzanne Carter, Gastonia, N.C.; a brother, Guy T. Ferstl, Glendale, Ariz.; a sister, Paula C. Ferstl, Tucson, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.
Military graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Arizona National Cemetery, Phoenix, Arizona.
