ROBERTS, Bob Haynes

West Valley View, Avondale, AZ June 08, 2010 Bob Haynes Roberts, 82, of Buckeye died May 14, 2010, at West Valley Hospital in Goodyear. Mr. Roberts was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Kiowa, Kan., to Benjamin A. and Blance R. He graduated from Kiowa High School in 1946. He graduated from Southwestern College in 1950. He served in the Navy from 1950 to 1954. He moved to Arizona in 1961. He worked as an educator and coach at Buckeye Union High School, leading the track team to a state championship in 1975. He retired in 1989 as the school's assistant principal and athletic director. He was inducted into four hall of fames: the Arizona Coaches Association, Arizona Athletic Administrators Association, Arizona Track Coaches Association and Southwestern College Athletic. He was a member of the Buckeye Lions Club for 49 years. He was a member of Buckeye Community Church. He is survived by one daughter, Robin Lynn of Tucson; one son, Ronald Eugene of Tucson; one sister, Betty Lou Ale Ebrahim; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jerry. Services are at 2 p.m. June 12 at Buckeye Community Church, 808 Eason Ave. in Buckeye. The Rev. Bob Lind will officiate.
