THACKER, Loyd Mont


The Prescott Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, October 8, 2006 Retired Prescott Police Officer Loyd Mont Thacker, 68 years old, of Prescott, Arizona, joined our Heavenly Father on Oct. 5, 2006. He was residing at the Arizona Pioneers' Home. Loyd was born to Herman Loyd Thacker and Irene Maxine Davis on June 23, 1938, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Loyd served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S.Noah. Loyd moved to Prescott in 1963 from Carlsbad, N.M., and joined the Prescott Fire Department. He then transferred to the Prescott Police Department, from where he retired after 20 years. He then worked at the Arizona Pioneers' Home and retired after 10 years. Loyd is survived by his wife, Robbie Mae Thacker, and four children: Loyd Thacker II of Prescott Valley, Jackie Hewitt of Thatcher, Ariz., Sherry Valdez of Prescott, and Rocky Tubbs of Belton, Texas; a brother, John Thacker of Houston, Texas; his mother, Irene Reid of Prescott; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A visitation will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9, at the Willow Hills First Southern Baptist Church, 1070 Mogollon Road, Prescott. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. Pastor Jesse Liles will officiate. Loyd will be laid to rest at the Arizona Pioneers' Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Loyd can be sent to the Arizona Pioneers' Home, 300 S. McCormick St., Prescott, Ariz., 86303.
