The Kansas City Star, Kansas City, Missouri Tuesday, January 29, 1991 Roy M. Atwell, 68, Prescott, Ariz., formerly of Kansas City, died Jan. 24, 1991, at a hospital in Prescott. He was born in Kansas City and lived in West Germany before moving to Rio Verde, Ariz., in 1975. He moved to Prescott in 1988. Mr. Atwell served in the Army Air Forces and the Air Force from 1944 until he retired in 1967. He was a pilot in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a founder of the World War II Night Fighters reunion and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Arapahoe Masonic Lodge, Denver, and the Scottish Rite bodies. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Atwell of the home; a daughter, Laree Brasuell, San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Hilma Pyper, Independence; and a granddaughter. Memorial services were Friday; cremation. The family suggests contributions to the Arizona Cancer Center, Tucson, Ariz. or the American Heart Association.
