Jack E. Jones passed away on June 3, 2007, at the age of 85. Born in Prescott, he was a life-long Arizonan.
Jack's lifetime of overcoming obstacles through sheer willpower and stubborn optimism has been an inspiration to many.
Inspired by the battle for Wake Island, Jack enlisted in the Marine Corps during World War II and fought on Guadalcanal. Despite the lack of a high school diploma after the war, he became the first person in his family to earn a college degree. Jack was an electrical engineer at Salt River Project for 38 years, and retired in 1989.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marilyn (Robertson) Jones; his two children, Eric and Lynley; and his three grandchildren, Chantez, Carl-Eric and Quinn.
Jack leaves a legacy of self-discipline, education and dedication to family. He will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Jack's name to the "Pappas Kids" Foundation for the education of homeless children.
A visitation was Friday, June 8, and services will be 1:30 p.m. today, June 9, 2007 at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Ariz.
