Bain Wendell
Bain Wendell Phillips was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 29, 1906.
He was received on Sunday, January 25, 2004, into His Kingdom of Light and Love. Christ's love is divine and divine love takes us into itself and we become one with it.
Wendell attended Dartmouth College for two years, 1926-27, and belonged to Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He left school to help his father build homes during the Florida boom. Unfortunately, the depression set in and he could not return to his architectural studies.
He volunteered for the Army during World War II and was commissioned a Captain on March 25, 1946, in the Coast Artillery Corp. He honorably served in active Federal Service from December 3, 1942 to June 23, 1946.
He selected Houston, Texas, for a career in insurance and went to work for Langham, Langston & Dyer Insurance, and remained for 40 years, retiring as a Senior Partner in 1975. He had an unbroken record of attendance of 16 years as a Rotarian. More importantly, he had and unbroken record as a follower in Jesus' footsteps. He was a gentleman of the Old School, kind and gentle filled with honor and integrity.
Wendell is survived by his wife Harriet (Patti) Phillips and his son, Dr. Wendell B. Phillips, a practicing physician in Phoenix, and two grandchildren, Kelsey and Chad.
Services were held at Faith Presbyterian Church Chapel, 16000 N. Del Webb Blvd, Sat. Jan. 31st. Contributions in memory of Mr. Phillips can be sent to Alzheimers Assn. Desert SW Chapter, 13050 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ 85357.
