SEILER, Robert L.

Robert L. Seiler April 8, 1915-January 25, 2004. Bob was born in Woodstock, Illinois and spent his early years in the Twin Cities. He later moved, with his beloved parents, Otto and Leila Seiler to the north shore of Chicago. Bob attended New Trier High School where his lifetime achievement and leadership abilities blossomed. He was a great student leader and a superb athlete. He attended University of Illinois, but due to illness, had to forfeit his football scholarship. Ironically, this is when he found his true love of life-the west. Many of his fondest memories were of days spent at Vermejo Park Ranch in New Mexico learning the ways of a cowboy. He married his grade school sweetheart, Mary Jane Cresmer in 1935. They shared a life of love and adventure and gave their four children their strong sense of family and pride in their heritage. Janie and Bob left the North Shore to build "their little nest somewhere out west" in 1959. They bought a guest ranch in the Tanque Verde Valley in Tucson. Bob lost Janie in 1969 and showed his strength and independence as he braved the years without her. He was blessed to later marry his beloved Billee Worthington, Janie's sister, and enjoyed a wonderful seven years together. Bob was very successful in his career in accident and health insurance. He worked many years with the Paul Revere Insurance Company in Chicago and served as the first General Agent of the Provident Life and Accident Company in Tucson. He enjoyed golf and was a charter member of Skyline Country Club. He volunteered at Tucson Medical Center and with Mobile Meals. Bob was preceded in death by his two beloved wives and his younger brother Ted. He is survived by his four children: Michael Seiler (Sarah) of Townsend Montana, Steven Seiler (Pam) of Paradise Valley AZ, Susan Lane (Larry) and Sandi Harrington (Chip) both of Tucson, 8 special grandchildren, 6 1/4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The life values of honesty, integrity and the importance of family will be carried on by them. We have lost a great father, "Grampin", and beloved uncle, but he will always be with us. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice Unit at TMC, 5301 E. Grant Road, Tucson AZ 85712. Arrangements by Bring's Broadway Chapel, Tucson AZ. Published in the Arizona Republic on 1/29/2004.
