Randy Wakelin died Nov. 10, 2011, at his home in Prescott, Ariz. He was born April 2, 1959, in Tucson, Ariz., the firstborn child of Frederic D. and Mary Alice (Gustafson) Wakelin. Randy was 51 years old.
Randy last worked for John Hunt Construction all over northern Arizona. He always loved dropping a line in the water and fishing, from when he was a very small boy. He enjoyed White Horse Lake and especially Alamo Lake. The family fondly remembers him insisting on Mary's special dressing at Thanksgiving and Christmas; the times he and Mary spent in the kitchen making tacos, enchiladas and spaghetti sauce; and his devotion to his Irish Setters - Moose lived to be 18 years old. The funeral home staff remembers his beanie weenies and all the hot dogs he made for the rodeo parade parties.
He is survived by his father, Fred; sisters Trisha and Tara (Monty) Higgins; brother Todd; four nephews; and one niece. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Alice, on Aug. 12, 2009.
A celebration of Randy's life will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, with visitation one-and-a-half-hour prior at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, corner of Cortez and Carleton in Prescott.
