Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Sunday, November 13, 2011 12:23 - Donald John Mesisca Oct. 11, 1958 — Nov. 6, 2011 Don Mesisca, loving husband and father passed away Nov. 6, 2011 along with his wife, Rosie, and their son, Brett. Don recently celebrated 32 years with the Lake Havasu City Fire Department, where he served as Captain of Engine Co. 4, Technical Rescue Coordinator, and a past Executive Officer of the Local 2974. Don was known in the Department for his commitment to creating challenging rescue training scenarios, and was affectionately referred to by the team as "The Rope Ranger." In his off time, Don was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, passions he shared with both Rosie and Brett. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family traveling, fishing and experiencing other adventures, including recent trips to South Africa, Alaska and Mexico. He was truly a hands-on, committed husband and father and will leave a lasting legacy among his friends and family. As a testament to his fighting character, Don had recently fought and survived a battle with prostate cancer. Don is survived by his mother, Agnes; his sisters, Debra and Diane; his brother, Dennis John; and many long-time friends inside and outside of the Lake Havasu community. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don’s memory to the Cancer Association of LHC, PO Box 1410, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405. Services will be Tuesday, at noon at the Aquatic Center.
