MORRIS, Aureliea M. (Arie)

(Maiden Name: Shultz)

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Saturday, November 19, 2011 - Aureliea “Arie” M. Morris, 83, passed away Nov. 11, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix. She was born March 5, 1928, in Oslo, Minn., to Isador and Helen (Garnowicz) Shultz. To Arie, as she was known to her family and friends, her family was most important. She had a selfless devotion to her best friend and partner for 65 years, Joseph A. Morris, as well as to her three children and grandchildren. During World War II, she volunteered for several agencies to mend and sew for those in the armed forces. In 1946, she met a young sailor who would place a penny, nickel or dime under each item on the table where she had waited on him. They married three months later, on July 16, 1946, in Seattle, Wash., and spent 65 years in a beautiful marriage. Arie was an avid bowler and she always said the “Havasu Bowlers” were her second family. “I live to bowl” was her motto. She was also a staunch D-backs baseball fan and family knew not to call her during a game. Arie kept the child alive in all she met. As a young mother, she was the first to grab a box and slide down a hill with her children. She taught us all that life must have more play and less worry. She will be deeply missed. She was the Morris and Schultz family tie that held us all together. Arie is survived by her children, Kaye M. Post and Dennis L. Morris; grandchildren, Traci A. Havins, Joseph M. Morris, Deborah L. Boswell and Tricia Joyner; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Henry “Hank” S. Schultz; and daughter in law, Kathy (Morris) Pratt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Morris, on Nov. 1; and a son, Gary Allen Morris. Services will be held at a later date. Thoughts, memories and condolences can be sent to the family at www.lakehavasumorturary.com. Arrangements are under the care of Lake Havasu Mortuary and Crematory.
