Capt. Carol Anthony Miedowicz passed away in Lake Havasu City, after a battle with cancer Nov. 15, 2011. He was 73 years old. He was born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y., and graduated from a high school there.
Carol moved to Mesa, Ariz., in 1962, and shortly thereafter joined the Mesa Police Department. He moved up through the department and achieved the rank of captain. He studied criminal justice at Mesa Community College and Arizona State University.
While at the Mesa Police Department, Carol met and married Carmella Cuoco in 1985. Both Carol and Carmella retired from the Mesa Police Department in early 1987 and moved to Lake Havasu City.
Carol joined the Lake Havasu Police Department and served as a Reserve Officer for five years, which included watercraft patrol, jailer and front desk duties. He was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a 100 Club of Arizona member.
During their retirement years, Carol and Carmella enjoyed traveling around the world on cruises, visiting many exotic locations. Boating on Lake Havasu on a regular basis was also a favorite pastime.
Carol leaves behind his beloved wife of 26 years, Carmella; a daughter, Eva Marie; and a son, Eric Marc, from a previous marriage.
