JONES, Carmen Pomonis


Carmen Pomonis Jones, 93, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away Jan. 24, 2004. She was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, & moved to Santa Fe, NM in 1930. There, she met and married Peter Pomonis, and along with Pete's brother, Tom, were partners in the Mayflower Cafe & Cocktail Lounge, on the Plaza. Several years after Pete's death in 1941, she married William Jones & moved from Santa Fe to Little Rock, AK, Miami, FL & Portland, OR, eventually settling in Phx. She was very proud to have been the housekeeper for Senator Barry Goldwater and his famiy from 1960 to 1965, during Sen. Goldwater's run for the presidency. She is survived by a son, Peter Jr. of Temecula, CA; daughters, Diane Peterson of Scottsdale, Barbara McLennan of Phx, and Melody Fisher of Tempe, along with 20 grandchildren, 23 great grand children and seven great-great grandchildren.
