Robert Wayne Taylor, Sr. of Mesa, Arizona passed away on January 27, 2004.
Bob was born in Lehi, Arizona on May 11, 1928 to Alma Reeves Taylor, Sr. and Florabel Tiffany Taylor.
Known as 'Wayne' during most of school years he attended Lehi School, Lincoln School, and Mesa High School. Bob was the third of nine children with seven brothers and one sister. He was taught how to work at a young age and loved working his entire life.
Bob joined the National Guard in 1948. He served as a battery commander and after over 25 years of service retired as a Captain. After high school, he worked as a plasterer for sixteen years and then in 1962 went to work for his brother Gene at Taylor Brothers as a food broker for Specialty Foods until he retired in 1990.
Bob was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served lovingly and faithfully throughout his life in various ward and stake callings including as Mesa 7th Ward Bishop.
Bob met Lillian McLellan in high school and they married on January 13, 1949 in the Mesa Temple and together they started a most loving family. He is survived by his wife Lillian of 55 years, his children: Linda (Tim) Green; Robert W. Taylor, Jr.; Vicki (John) Jayne; Tammy (Kyle) Kleinman; 12 grandchildren and 9 1/2 great-grandchildren; brothers Gene, Don, and Glenn Taylor and sister Ellen Squire. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and brothers Alma, Darrel, Lavier, and Dean Taylor.
Visitation was held Friday, January 30, 2004 at Bunker Mortuary at 33 N. Centennial Way. Funeral services were Saturday, January 31, 2004 at the LDS Solomon Building at 997 E. Broadway.
