ALLEN, James K. (Jim)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, June 20, 2007 James K. (Jim) Allen was born June 18, 1924, in Perry, Iowa, to parents James and Isabel Allen. He passed away June 17,2007. Jim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois; his daughter Merrie (Tom) Untermann of San Rafael, Calif.; son James G. (Anita) Allen of Indianola, Iowa; and grandchildren Chris and Kurt Untermann and C.J. Allen. He is also survived by brothers Jack of Prescott Country Club, Bill of Sacramento, Calif., Roger of Sun Lakes, Ariz., and Joe of Calexico, Calif. After serving honorably in World War II, where he received a Purple Heart, and the Korean War, he earned a B.A. from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, and an M.A. from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He taught and coached in Iowa and California until his retirement in 1982. In 1989 Jim and Lois moved from California to Prescott Country Club, where Jim was a member of the Prescott Golf and Country Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed all sports. His interests also included composing humorous poetry, drawing and painting. At Jim's request, no services will be held.
