George (Red) Hanes, of Chino Valley entered into eternal life peacefully on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at 4 p.m. He was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Carl and Margaret (Love) Hanes.

George joined the Navy when he was 17 years old, spending 30 years before retiring.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 42, Grand Canyon.

A celebration of George’s life will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the VA Chapel with full military honors.

Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery.

Hampton Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
