Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, November 23, 2011 Julia J. Grinder, age 82 of Globe, Ariz., passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011 at Copper Mountain Inn. She was born in Trinidad, Colo. on Dec. 3, 1928, the daughter of Ruth (Terry) and Julian B. Gourdin. Julia was a cook at the county jail for 12 years and was known as “Grandma.” Julia loved reading her Bible and listening to gospel music and gardening; she was a cowgirl and enjoyed doing the hard work that went with it. Julia’s life was her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Grinder; son, Irving Grinder; grandson, Billy Hayes; great-grandson, Tristan Grinder; and her parents. Julia leaves behind in loving memory her children, Julia Faye Grinder of Globe, Ariz., Sharon Eileen (Mike) Taylor of Portland Ore., Lela Ortiz of Globe, Ariz. and Shirley Rose (James) Hammer of Claypool, Ariz.; one brother, Julian Buster Gourdin of Raton, N.M.; two sisters, Lillian Sakrison of Trinidad, Colo. and Ruby Reed of Houghton, Kansas; seven grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, at 9 a.m. at Miles Funeral Services Globe Chapel, 237 S. Sutherland St., in Globe, Ariz. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens in Miami, Ariz. Funeral arrangements for Julia J. Grinder were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services Globe.
