West Valley View, Avondale, AZ November 18, 2011 Alejandro "Alex" Mendoza, 71, of Poteet, Texas, and formerly of Avondale and Tolleson died Nov. 15, 2011, in Poteet. Mr. Mendoza was born July 10, 1940, in Mission, Texas, to Jose Enrique and Apolinar. He moved to Arizona when he was a teenager. He was a farm laborer and contractor, and was self-employed in the agriculture business. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maria; three sons, David, Alex Jr. and Pete; three daughters, Dolores M. Villanueva, Della and Precious Bea; one brother, Carlos; two sisters, Juanita Vela and Esperanza; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 21 at Thompson's Valley West Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road in Goodyear. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Nov. 22 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 539 E. La Pasada Blvd. in Goodyear. Burial will follow at Louis B.
