Wayne Dewitt Langworthy, 93, left this world for his eternal journey on
Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, in Lake Havasu City. He was born on Sept. 25,
1918, in Gerry, N.Y., to Frank and Millicent (Manross) Langworthy.
Wayne served in the US Navy during WWII as an Aviation Machinist Mate,
Third Class, and was honorably discharged. He married his beloved wife,
Geraldine Langworthy on Jan. 27, 1941, in Jamestown, N.Y., and they
would spend 68 years together before her passing. Wayne enjoyed an
active life of hunting, fishing, shooting, camping and spending time
with his family, a real "family guy." He always had a story or joke to
tell to keep people laughing and said one could find humor in most every
situation.
Wayne spent his working years as a machinist, working at Crescent Tool
Co., Spartan Tool Co. and retired from Jamestown Die & tool during his
career. He was well known in the Jamestown area for gunsmithing, as the
owner of Wayne's Gun Shop. He also repaired clocks, watches and sold
camping trailers. After retiring, Wayne and Gerry moved to Lake Havasu
City to be closer to their family. Wayne continued machining at home and
was always thinking about the next project. He was a member of the Lake
Havasu City Sportsman Club and a lifetime member of the National Rifle
Association (NRA).
Wayne will be missed by everyone who knew him and welcomed by those who
will join him in Heaven. We thank you, Dad, for always being there for
us and giving us your gift of humor to carry with us forever.
Wayne is survived by his daughters Linda Langworthy and Carol Miller;
son Larry Langworthy; and sister Louisa Smith of Sinclairville, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Gerry Langworthy;
parents Frank and Millicent Langworthy; brothers Warren and Ward and a
half sister Blanche Harle.
Contributions can be made in Wayne's name to the Western Arizona Humane
Society, 1100 Empire Drive, LHC. AZ. 86403.
