Denver (CO) Post Thursday, November 3, 2011 Christine Mae (Huffman) Geving, 86, born December 22, 1924 in Beardstown, Cass County, IL, passed peacefully to eternal life with Him, Monday, October 31, 2011, in Columbia, TN, following a stroke in September. Predeceased by her mother Dorthea Schaefer when she was 13 years old, Christine relocated to Rifle, Colorado, with her father J C Huffman, stepmother Florence, and younger brother the late Dr Kenneth L Huffman M.D. formerly of Mesa, AZ. Family and Chirstine continued next to Glenwood Springs, and finally Grand Junction where she graduated from high school--Class of 1942. She studied Nursing at the University of Denver and was subsequently a Registered Nurse in various capacities including clinics in Wickenburg, AZ, and Fairbanks, AK, where she met her late husband Donald L Geving Sr. After marrying December 4, 1953, and briefly dairy farming near Clear Lake, WI, Christine and Don moved to Westminster, CO, in 1956 where she was a homemaker until returning to Nursing in 1968 at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, and finally retiring from Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Colorado in 1989. She remained in Westminster, after Don predeceased her in 1991, until 2001 when she relocated to Columbia, TN. In addition to being a selfless, loving and supportive wife and mother, while in Westminster Christine was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, an active member and Past Worthy Matron of Unity Chapter #97 Order of the Eastern Star (O.E.S.), Denver, an involved supporter of the local Westminster Job's Daughters and DeMolay Chapter, and served in various community volunteer capacities. In Columbia, TN, Christine was a member of the First United Methodist Church and continued with the O.E.S. Chapter there. Christine is survived by her two sons and their families--Major Donald Geving II USMC (RET) of Spring Hill, TN, his wife Kay, granddaughter Dora and grandson Eric; and, Captain Christopher O Geving, USN (RET) of Gainesville, VA, his wife Holly, and a second grandson Christopher. We celebrate her past and her risen life, and reunion with the love of her life Donald Sr, her daughter Nancy Kay (Geving) Williams who predeceased her in 1980, and the most marvelous relatives and innumerable friends that have preceded her. Visitation will be from 9am to 10:30am Saturday, November 5 at Olinger Crown Hill, W 29th and Wadsworth in Wheat Ridge, CO. Service to follow. Interment will occur on Monday of the following week at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver.
