Nina McLaws Turley Adair, 95, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, in Eagar, at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born Feb. 21, 1916, in Woodruff to Joseph Hartley Turley and Joanna McLaws Turley.
Nina's family were early pioneers along the Little Colorado River of northeastern Arizona. She was born in Woodruff and was raised in Joseph City. Nina graduated from high school in 1934. She served in the United States Women's Army Auxiliary Corps during WWII. Later she married Preston Adair and they settled in Eagar. Nina was a homemaker. She was a wonderful cook and loved staying home and spending time with her family.
Nina loved flowers and spent many enjoyable hours working in her flower beds. She also spent many hours creating beautiful quilts for family members. Many memorable hours were spent visiting with friends across a quilt. Nina loved sports and followed the local high school teams. She passed away due to age related issues. Nina was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by her sons: Rockford L. (Julie) Adair of Eagar; Scott P. (Jill) Adair of Mesa; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Nina was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Preston Adair, and eight brothers and sisters.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at Burnham Mortuary, Eagar. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Amity Building, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow services at the Eagar Cemetery.
