John Augenstein, 66, of Williams, AZ passed away November 17, 2011 in Flagstaff. John was born January 27, 1945 to Fred and Mildred Augenstein. He lived his entire life in Williams. He married Patricia Christman on June 15, 1968. They had two sons, Jeff and Brian.
John followed in his father's footsteps working for the Williams School District for over 30 years in a myriad of positions including transportation supervisor and maintenance supervisor. His biggest source of joy at the school, was the Williams Vikings Crown travel bus. He spent many happy hours behind the wheel of that bus taking students on trips ranging from simple field trips to sports events throughout the state.
It would be safe to say that there aren't many highways and biways in Arizona that Johnny didn't travel. He had a fierce devotion to his job and a strong work ethic, which he passed on to his children. He spent his retirement years involved in community activities, helping friends and neighbors, and working for his oldest son. John enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was working in the yard or out in the woods looking for wildlife.
John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fred. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia, his sons, Jeff (Roxanne) of Flagstaff, and Brian of Williams. He is also survived by his sister, Evelyn (Bill) Huster of Hemet, CA and his brother Tommy (Ellen) of Flagstaff and numerous neices and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday November 29, 2011 at 1:00 pm at St Josephs Catholic Church, 900 W Grant Ave, Williams, AZ. They will be followed by a potluck reception at the church hall.
Condolences can be sent to: C/O Jeff Augenstein, PO Box 30457, Flagstaff, AZ 86003.
