DUCHARME, Elizabeth (Betty)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, June 3, 2007 Elizabeth DuCharme, 81, of Prescott, died at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Sharon DuCharme. Betty was born Jan. 27, 1926, in DeQuoin, Ill. Ms. DeCharme was a retired civilian federal employee. During World War II she worked as a civilian employee for the Department of the Navy. She lived most of her life in Florissant, Mo., where she became heavily involved in local government volunteer activities. She also became well respected in the St. Louis area for her knowledge and ability to raise cactus and succulents in her personal greenhouse in Florissant. Betty moved to Prescott to live with Jack and Sharon in May 2002 after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by two other sons, Milton DuCharme of Bloomington, Ind., and Charlie DuCharme of Ashland, Mo.; six grandchildren, Donald Brown of Marietta, N.Y., Steven Brown of Woodstock, Ga., Daniel DuCharme and Tim DuCharme both of Prescott, Beth Brummett of London, Ky., and Gene DuCharme of Bloomington, Ind.; and three great-grandchildren, Devon, Rachel and Haley. Her wonderful sense of humor will be missed. There will be no services, please send contributions to YRMC Hospice. Arrangements were entrusted to the Hampton Funeral Home.
