Josephine Gutierrez Bejarano, 60, of Phoenix and formerly of Avondale and Waddell, died from brain cancer June 4, 2010, at Trinity Assisted Care Facility in Phoenix.
Mrs. Berjarano was born July 16, 1949, in Phoenix. She graduated from Agua Fria Union High School in 1967. She graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor's degree in education. She worked for the Family Involvement Center, addressing Arizona legislators in Washington, D.C.
She married Francisco Bejarano in 1970.
She is survived by her husband, Francisco; one daughter, Elizabeth of Phoenix; her parents, Domingo and Mary Gutierrez of Avondale; four sisters, Esther Carnero of Tolleson, Lillian Kessel of Cornville, Patricia Rae of Albuquerque, and Debra Pamplin of Atlanta; and one brother, Doming "Jay" Gutierrez of Phoenix.
Services will be at 6 p.m. today at Best Funeral Services, 9380 W. Peoria Ave. in Peoria.
