The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, June 20, 2007 Christopher J. Wendt of Prescott, Ariz., passed away June 14, 2007. Chris was born in Belle Fourche, S.D., Dec. 13, 1923, to William and Ella Helmer Wendt. Chris grew up and lived in the Black Hills area of South Dakota working for Safeway Stores. After serving his country in the Navy during World War II he continued working for Safeway Stores and eventually moved to the Prescott area in 1965 and retired from Safeway in 1986 after being a Manager for Safeway for 30 years. Chris touched the lives of numerous people. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. Elks and the Kiwanis of Prescott for many years. He is survived by his wonderful and caring wife, Wanda, of 60, years of marriage; three sons, Dennis, Chris, Joel; grandchildren, Aaron, Jeffrey, Joelle, Christopher James; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Darwin. Private burial services will be at the Veterans National Cemetery in Cave Creek. Memorial Service will be at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 630 Park Ave., Prescott on Thursday, June 21, 2007, at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Family Care Center, 395 Stillwater Dr., Suite: B, Prescott, Ariz. or Senior Companions.
