William Spencer Butterfield II, "Pen," passed away June 9, 2007 in Prescott, Ariz. at the age of 77. He was born March 31, 1930, in Osmond. Neb.; served as Captain in the Air Force before graduating from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Neb.
"Pen” worked for New York Life for over 30 years before establishing his own successful insurance and financial ervices company in Omaha, Neb. He was a Life Member of the Million Dollar round Table, the premier association of financial professionals, in addition to serving as President of both the Omaha Chapter and the National Association of Life Underwriters.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Spencer Butterfield, mother, Margaret Wakeman Butterfield, and his brother John Wakeman Butterfield, as well as his beloved wife of over 50 years, Janet Shively Butterfield.
Survived by his three children, William Spencer Butterfield III of Prescott, Ariz., Ann Butterfield Bushman of Avondale, Ariz., and Scott Shively Butterfield of Arvada, Colo.; grandchildren, William Spencer Butterfield IV. Sheila Butterfield, Sean Butterfield, of Prescott, Ariz., Steven Strehle of Omaha, Tom Bushman of Omaha, John and Brian Butterfield of Arvada, Colo.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at West Center Chapel, 7805 West Center Road, Omaha. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nebraska Medical Center Office of Development, 987421 Nebraska; Medical Center, Omaha, Neb., 68198-7421.
