The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, December 2, 2006 Dorla "Deane" Meyers, 71 passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, in Prescott Valley. She was born April 30, 1935 in Arnold, Neb., to John and Lily Troyer, and attended Arnold schools. On Aug. 18, 1956, she married Leonard L. Meyers in Arnold; they celebrated their 50th anniversary last August. Following her graduation in 1957 from Sioux Falls College Sioux Falls, S.D., with a degree in Elementary Education, Deane taught elementary school classes for more than 20 years in California, Iowa, Kansas and Arizona. Deane was also a source of support for her husband in his pastoral and educational career and shared her faith with others through counseling and friendship. The most enjoyable job experience for Len and Deane was the 11 years spent as missionaries to the Middle Verde Rock Church m the Verde Valley. Deane was an accomplished pianist and accompanied many school and church programs. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, church activities and time spent with her grandchildren. Deane is survived by her husband, Leonard Meyers, of Prescott Valley; daughter Laurie Kasper of Prescott Valley; sons Daniel Meyers of Menlo Park, Calif., and Marty Meyers of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter Mindy Meyers of Las Vegas, Nev.; and 10 grandchildren: Ryan Kasper, Kevin Kasper, Troy Kasper, Roxana Meyers, Ariana Meyers, Cameron Meyers, Hayley Meyers, Derek Meyers, Kendyl Meyers, and Dakota Hawks. A memorial service to celebrate Deane's life will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at the Prescott Valley Church of the Nazarene, 3741 N. Constance. A private burial will be held in Middle Verde. Memorial contributions in Deane's name can be sent to the P.V. Church of the Nazarene.
