Carrol Eugene "Bud" Tow at 82 left this world behind and went to be with the Lord on Nov. 18, 2011. Bud was born on a ranch near Akron, Colo., on July 7, 1929, to Forrest E. and Clara Tow.
At the age of 10, Bud decided to leave the Ty Ranch where his family then lived near Saratoga, Wyo., to go make a run at it on his own. He hitchhiked back to Colorado, where he attended school periodically and worked on area ranches and rodeoed. At the age of 17, he married Elvera June Watson. Over his lifetime, he had several successful careers. He worked on ranches many times, and had worked at Roberts Tunnel, which went through the Continental Divide near Grant, Colo. (32 2/10 miles). He built oil field locations in Western Colorado and Eastern Utah. He also managed power line construction jobs throughout the United States.
He moved to Arizona in 1979. He was a respected member of the Odd Fellows Lodge since 1947. He was the Noble Grand in Colorado and a Grand Master in Arizona where he was very proud of the charitable services the lodge provided. He also held many offices within the lodge. He received medals of Honor from the Sovereign Grand Lodge and the Grand Lodge of Arizona. He was also a respected member of the Rebbeka Lodge of Prescott Valley.
Bud was preceded in death by Vera, Dawn Michelle, Floyd, Lloyd, Don, Russ and Harris Paul.
He will be missed by his wife Gertrude "May" Tow; sons Larry (Linda) of Chino Valley; Garry (Janan) of Dewey; and Donald Jones of Prescott Valley; daughters Karen (Gary) of Oregon; Margie Jones of Dewey; brothers Ron (Lennis) of Idaho; Doyle (Sherrie) of Nevada; sisters Jeannie May Yerkes of Idaho and Carlene (Wayne) of Idaho; Erna Skinner of Georgia; grandchildren Blaine, J.C. and Justin Tow, Shawn Mikel, Jennifer Kienle, Hallie Williams, Tamara Holler, Cody and Shelly Elkins, Joe Guire, Stacy Gregory, Joe and Phil Jones; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
A memorial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at the Odd Fellows Lodge, 8690 E. Loos Drive, Prescott Valley, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Odd Fellows Lodge, c/o Donald Jones, 3501 N. Sharon Drive, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314.
