Dorothy Cromer McCoy was born in Claypool, Ariz. on Jan. 24, 1929. She passed away on Nov. 21, 2011 in Phoenix, Ariz. Her parents were Eugene and Faye Cromer. She was born and raised in the Globe/Miami area.
Dorothy was very close to her grandparents, Bill and Pearl Shaw, who had a great influence on her life. She had an older sister (Freddie Anderson) and three younger brothers (Richard Cromer, Ben Stepp and Roy Stepp). She met her life-long husband, Carl McCoy, in 1944. They were married on Jan. 20, 1945. Her only child, Tim McCoy, was born on Jan. 2, 1946.
She helped to raise her brothers and created a happy and loving home. Richard spoke often of her selfless love and constant support for her family. One of Roy’s fondest memories is of Dorothy cooking Thanksgiving dinner while the boys were playing football in the streets.
She was an avid volunteer for both the Red Cross and Heritage Health Care Center. For many years she was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Carl McCoy; two brothers, Richard Cromer and Roy Stepp; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous other loving family members.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Globe, Ariz.
