PRESCOTT - Services for Gary C. Denny, 36, one of the country's top softball pitchers, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Ruffner Funeral Home here.
Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Denny, born in Seligman of a pioneer Yavapai county ranching family, died Saturday in Yavapai Community Hospital after he was shot.
He started pitching softball after attending Prescott High School and the town's public schools. In Prescott he had pitched for the Mueller-Stevens team until joining the Kingman Turquoise Kings this summer. He also had pitched for eastern teams.
Survivors include his wife Cynthia Marie; sons, Gary R. and Craig M; his mother, Mrs. Dixie Denny; brothers, James, Richard and John, a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals of the National League, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Pyle.

Denny Services Tuesday
Gary C. Denny, 36 died Saturday, at Yavapai Community Hospital of a gunshot wound.
He was born in Seligman and was a member of a pioneer Yavapai ranching family. He attended Prescott schools and started pitching softball after high school. lHe pitched for the Mueller-Stevens team, the Kingman Turquoise Kings, and several eastern teams. He was a member of the Skull Valley Community Church.
Survivors include his widow, Cynthia; two sons, Gary R. and Craig M; three brothers, James, Richard, and John; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Pyle.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Ruffner Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Mountain View Mausoleum.
Visitation is today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ruffner Funeral Home.
