HENDRICKS, Nathaniel (Nat) Fish


The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, AZ Thursday, December 01, 2011 Nathaniel “Nat” Fish Hendricks died November 25, 2011 in Cottonwood, AZ at the age of 87. He was born October 14, 1924 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Frank and Mary (Watts) Hendricks Sr. Nat began working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the 1970s, setting up alcohol and substance abuse programs on Indian reservations all across the country. After moving to the Cottonwood area, he helped start the Alcohol Substance Abuse Program at the Yavapai-Apache Nation in 1995. He was 71 years old at that time. He worked there part time until he was 85 years old. He had a great sense of humor & unbelievable work ethic. He helped many people achieve sobriety & success in their lives, throughout southern California & the Cottonwood area. He played golf twice a week until he was 83 years old. The only thing that stopped him was a broken hip. He loved feeding the birds & relaxing on the back patio with the love of his life, Penny. Nat is survived by his loving wife Penny Hendricks, son, Robin Hendricks of Grants Pass, Or. daughter, Nanci Stigge of Paradise, Ca. Step children Krista Davies of N. Edwards, Ca. & Ken Kramer of Los Angeles, Ca. Celebration of Nat’s Life will be Sat. Jan. 14, 2012 @ 2 pm. at the following address, 2619 S. Union Dr #B, Cottonwood. Bueler Cottonwood Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
