DEGLANE, Emmanuel


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 12/02/2011 Emmanuel DeGlane, 95, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low. He was born April 22, 1916 in Nuevo Leon, N.M., the son of Ceasar DeGlane and Concepcion Cardon Martinez. Emmanuel served his country in the United States Army during WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was Justice of the Peace in Concho for 25 years and worked for Southwest Lumber Mills in McNary. He was also a 4H leader and Concho historian. Emmanuel wrote a book called “Concho the Enchanted Pearl” and founded a newspaper called “The Concho Chatter.” Emmanuel was also an expert horticulturist and was a leader of the Concho Historical Society. Emmanuel and Juanita were married for 69 years and together raised several foster children, including a grandson Casey Deglane of Eagar. He is survived by two daughters: Clara Damon of Whiteriver and Melinda (Mike) Hensley of Concho; 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Emmanuel was preceded in death by two daughters: Yvonne Longoria and Cora Madison. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Concho Chapel. Interment will follow the funeral services at the Concho Cemetery.
