MAHON, William (Billy) J.

William (Billy) J. Mahon, 85, passed away peacefully January 30, 2004. He was born May 30, 1918 in Jersey City, NJ. William spent his young adult life in Jersey City where he met and married his beloved Charlotte A. Dempsey. He was a WWII veteran serving in the European theater on the USS Pheasant AM-61 (Mine sweeper) as Electrician's Mate Second Class. Billy moved to Arizona in 1952 and was a member of the B.P.O.E. He retired with over 20 years with Motorola. He loved to spend his leisure time camping in the AZ Rim country and along the California Coast with family & close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Charlotte. He will be greatly missed by his two daughters, Charleen Marlherbe of Mesa and Denise Dingle of Gilbert, 4 granddaughters Elissa, Stacey, Heidi, and Erica, his sister Helen Sheridan of New York, nieces & nephews, and many friends. Services were held at St. Daniels Catholic Church, 1030 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Family Care, 5037 E. Broadway, Mesa, AZ 85206, or a charity of choice. Arrangements under the care of Green Acres Mortuary. Published in the Arizona Republic on 2/3/2004.
