HENRY, Lillian Claire

Newspaper Unknown March 1921 Lillian Claire Henry, the seven-year-old daughter of Mrs. D. S. Butler, of Camp Verde, passed away at the home of Rev. R. K. Acuff at 5:50 Wednesday morning, March 2, at Morenci, Ariz. Mrs. Butler with her two little daughters were visiting with her sister, Mrs. Acuff, when Lillian contracted measles and pneumonia, and later developed diphtheria. Lillian had only been in Morenci six weeks at the time of her death but in that short time had endeared herself to all, with whom she came in contact. Her unselfishness and her distinctive Christian virtues were seldom so marked in one so young. In our human weakness we wonder why the fairest and brightest of our loved ones are taken first, but "When He 'cometh to make up His jewels, He selects only rare gems for His crown." She was laid to rest in the Hillside cemetery of Morenci, just as the tints of the departing sun were changing dull rocks, and barren wastes to beautiful visions of lavender and mauve, with lofty mountain peaks for her monument, ever pointing --- of the ---- silently blossomed, one by one in the meadows of heaven" and the sorrowing ones turned from her grave, sustained and comforted by an unfaltering trust. ----------------- Note: Daughter of Payton J. Henry and Sara Virginia (Mott) Henry - Butler.
