PERKINS, Robert Marion (Bobbie)


Newspaper Unknown Exact Date Unknown - 1944 Capt. Robert M. Perkins, was killed in action on Manos Island, in the Admiralty group, on March 16, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Perkins were notified Tuesday by a telegram from the War Department. No particulars were received. Captain Perkins was in the seventh Cavalry. His last letter home was dated March 14, two days before his death. Captain Perkins was born in Prescott July 20, 1919. He was a graduate of the Prescott high school and of the University of Arizona, where he majored in animal husbandry. He was a star player on the university polo team. He entered service June 25, 1941, going first to Fort Bliss, Texas. He left the states last June and was stationed in Australia for some time before going to New Guinea. Last fall he staged a rodeo in Australia, which brought him considerable acclaim. He had taken part in many rodeos during his residence here, where he was familiarly known a "Bobbie" Perkins. His father is representative in the state legislature from District No. 1 and has served as secretary of the Yavapai Cattle Growers association since its organization 10 years ago. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, the former Ethel Davis, and a little daughter, Betty Jean. Other relatives here include two uncles, Ben and M. N. Perkins; an aunt, Miss Fanny Perkins, and several cousins, of this locality, and an aunt, Mrs. P. H. Hayes, of Phoenix. ------------------ Note: Buried Oct. 27, 1950, Mt.
