CONAWAY, Robert W.


Robert W. Conaway devoted husband and loving father passed on after a 3-month illness on January 30th, 2004. He was born on March 31, 1915 in Dennison, Ohio. Those surviving Robert and thankful for sharing his life are his wife of 53 years Ann, his children and their spouses; Robert W. Conaway Jr. (Linda) Lea Jane Ohrling (Michael) Juliann McNelly (Sam) and James M. Conaway (Abby). He was "Pop-Pop" to his grandchildren, LeeAnn Conaway, Bethanie Wiggins (George), Erica Ohrling, Russell W. Conaway, Iris Marey Conaway, Cara Lily Conaway, great grandson George Ellis Wiggins III. He was "Uncle Bob" to 23 nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his sisters Dorothy Boevine, Gerry Wentz, Mary Conaway and brother Ted Conaway. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert M. and Susan Conaway, his brother Gene and grandson Robert Tyler Ohrling. Robert graduated from Ohio State in 1939 with a Masters of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. He spent a 43-year career with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in their aircraft fuel tank division. He was a member of the Lions Club in Seville, Ohio and Green Valley, AZ, also an active member of the society of Chemical Engineers throughout his career and well into his retirement. Robert was an avid golfer finishing his last round on his 88th birthday. His other interests included cooking, woodworking, and the railroad. "All aboard Pop-Pop", we will miss you. A memorial service was held at The Church at Litchfield Park, 300 N. Litchfield Road in Litchfield Park, AZ.
