The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 12/06/2011 Rosendo “Ross” A. Vargas, 83, of Show Low died Nov. 26, 2011. Mr. Vargas, a retired chef, was born March 1, 1928, in Cine, Texas. He grew up and attended school there. He lived in Washington, briefly, before moving to Arizona. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the Army, and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a founding member and former post commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9907, here in Show Low and also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Ross was preceded in death by his wife, Helen N. Vargas. He is survived by his daughter, Carmen Hill of Show Low; and son Mike Lettig of Sammamish, Wash. Visitation, rosary and mass of Christian burial were held Nov. 30. Grave side services with military honors by VFW Post 9907 followed services at the Show Low Cemetery.
