Harold "Skip" Melvin Kayser Jr., 66, of Litchfield Park died Nov. 28, 2011.
Mr. Kayser was born July 31, 1945, in Chicago to Harold Sr. and Junerose.
He grew up outside Lincoln, Neb., and was a member of 4H. He graduated from Southeast High School in 1964, and was in the Nebraska Air National Guard from 1966 to 1972.
He started and operated Mel-Ro Transport from 1974 to 1986, in addition to working on his father's farm. In 1986, he moved to Phoenix and worked in the trucking industry. He married Kimberly Darnold on May 29, 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Kim; his mother, Junerose; one sister, Kathy McConathy; one son, Harold Kayser III; one daughter, Lacey Taylor; one grandchild; two step-sons, Barney Zimmerman and Bruce Tiff; two step-daughters, Kelly Tiff and Cindy Sievertsen; and eight step-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Community Church of Joy, 21000 N. 75th Ave. in Glendale.
