Norvel Owens Mortuary Flagstaff, Arizona Margaret Elizabeth Donaldson (Margie) passed away Nov. 25 at Kachina Point Care center in Sedona, after a long battle with COPD . Her family was gathered around her bed on Thanksgiving, just hours preceding her death. She had been a resident of Kachina since March 2011. Margie had lived in Flagstaff twenty-one years, working as a private childcare provider for most of those years. Prior to living in Flag, she worked and resided in Pinetop/Lakeside and Phoenix, Arizona. Margaret was born in Solon, Ohio in 1927 to Arthur and Elizabeth Schinke. In 1947, the family moved from Ohio to Phoenix, Arizona. In Phoenix, Margaret met and married Dean R. Donaldson. Most friends and relatives remember Margie as a cute, petite lady who liked to wear high heels with everything, especially when she went shopping, a favorite hobby. She loved the outdoors and loved picnics. She won many hearts with her compassion- always wanting to help those in need. In earlier years in Phoenix, she was a cub-scout den mother for five straight years,, earning “Den Mother of the Year” award in 1966. Margie was quite creative with crafts, scouting activities and events, and southwest Indian lore throughout her adult life. Two brothers, Chester and Gerald, precede her in death. She is survived by daughter, Denise and son-in-law, Kent Parks (Flagstaff), three grandchildren, Benjamin, Aaron and Moriah Parks; and son, Daniel. Deepest thanks to the nurses and staff of Kachina Point (Sedona) for the wonderful care of Margaret. A memorial will be Mon. Dec. 19, location and time TBA. Please check condolence link for update.
