The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, November 25, 1998, page 5A Thomas Gallagher Thomas ‘Roy’ Gallagher, 82, died Monday, November 23, 1998, in Prescott. He was born Aug. 28, 1916, in Tilden, Neb. to James Gallagher and Anna Josephine (Welch) Gallagher. Mr. Gallagher moved to Prescott 26 years ago from Monterey, Calif., where he had been a firefighter for 27 years. He was a captain. He was also a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He attended USC, Mt. San Antonio College and East Los Angeles Junior College in Calif. He moved to California from Nebraska in 1936. He was president of the Fire Fighters Association, a member of the American Legion and the Optimists Club. He enjoyed lapidary and creating rock people and toys. He also enjoyed deep sea fishing. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, and traveled all over the world. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Clarene, of Prescott; daughters, Carol Ott, of Alta Loma, Calif., and Jan Gallagher of Prescott; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A granddaughter, Dana Gallagher, preceded him in death. Private services will be held. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Craig Steinbrink Memorial Fund, in care of the Prescott Fire Department, 1700 Iron Springs Road, Prescott, Ariz., 86305. Hampton Funeral Home helped the family with arrangements.
