The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, AZ Saturday, December 10, 2011 Justin Aaron Smith 1962 - 2011 In Memory of Justin Aaron Smith Beloved Brother, Father, Grandfather, and Companion Justin was born on February 23, 1962 at Marcus J. Lawrence Hospital in Cottonwood, AZ to Margaret and Scotty Smith Sr. He is survived by five (5) sisters, Vida Smith, Leona Wathogoma, Nancy Guzman, Hattie Puggie and Grace Lomaintewa and three brothers, Scotty Smith Jr., Richard Smith and Lloyd Smith and longtime companion, Beverly Bearshield. Justin is also survived by one daughter, Fawn Honwytewa Stanley, and many nephews, nieces, and many grandchildren. Justin grew up on the Yavapai-Apache Reservation in Middle Verde where he lived most of his life. He lived in Edwin, Alabama for five years where he attended high school and joined ROTC. Justin went to Kicking Horse, Montana where he obtained a certificate as Heavy Equipment Operator, a Certificate in Construction Apprentice from Yavapai College in Prescott, AZ and later joined the Swift Fire Crew with the Verde Ranger Station in Camp Verde. His last employer was Rocky Construction at Tunilli Community. Justin also enjoyed playing in sports tournaments with his family, enjoyed fishing and camping and loved family dinners. Justin was kind and compassionate and had an enormous heart for his community. He loved and enjoyed helping others sharing what he could. Justin will be missed by his family, friends and community. Visitation will be 5-9pm Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Verde House of Prayer on Sine Street on the Reservation. Funeral Service will be 10:30 am at the Gym with graveside services to follow.
