Nancy Welsh left this earth to be with her beloved husband, George and her Lord on Nov. 28, 2011.
Nancy was born, raised and educated in Japan. In 1951 she moved to the United States as a new bride with her husband George, a career military man, settling in San Bernardino, Calif.
The have three children, Bob Welsh (Noreen), born in Japan, Chris Welsh, born in San Bernardino and Francine Maki (Russell), also born in San Bernardino. Nancy was a stay-at-home mom to raise her children. When George retired from military service, they moved to Illinois where George was employed as a salesman and Nancy was employed as a hospital dietician, later becoming head chef.
George entered the deaconate to serve the church in Illinois. He retired in 1991 and moved to Lake Havasu City where Deacon George served in Grace Episcopal Church until he passed away in 2003.
Nancy was a volunteer at Havasu Regional Medical Center since 1992 and was Volunteer of the Year in 1997, rewarded with a trip to corporate headquarters in Nashville, Tenn. While there, she and George were treated to the Grand Ole Opry where they dined with the corporate CEO. She also volunteered at the Lake Havasu Senior Center since 2003 and was chosen volunteer of the month three times.
She served at Grace Episcopal Church in the Altar Guild as usher and helped wherever she was needed. She was loved and will be missed by her loving family and devoted friends.
Services will be held for Nancy on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 at Grace Episcopal Church at 1 p.m.
