Eunice “Uni” Harriet (Hall) Williams, 88, passed away Dec. 5, 2011 in Lake Havasu City. She was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Rumney, N.H.
In her long and interesting life, Uni was a gambler, smoker and drinker, who peppered her conversations with colorful language. She was also a loving and precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and long-time companion. With her long-time companion, Robert “Bob” W. Robinson, Uni made a career training thoroughbreds in Boston and New Hampshire during a time when women at the racetrack were a novelty. She was a modern woman long before anyone understood what it meant for women to choose their own paths rather than follow the rules set out for them.
In Uni’s later years, she quit drinking and smoking, but never lost her love for the poker room because she loved the people as much as she loved the game. She treasured her family and cherished all of her friends. She was coarse, but eloquent. Tough, but loving. Fierce, but kind. Uni was a regular person but she was extraordinary. She will be missed very, very much.
Uni is survived by her daughter, Donna Lee (Dennis) Obert; grandson, Michael D. Obert; granddaughter, Kristen Williams-Wiggins and great-grandson, Connor. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald D. Williams; and companion, Robert W. Robinson.
A party to celebrate Uni’s life will be at the Beckett House, 865 Cashmere Drive, LHC. Friday, at 1 p.m. Thoughts, memories and condolences can be sent to the family at www.lakehavasumortuary.com. Arrangements are under the care of Lake Havasu Mortuary and Crematory.
