Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Thursday, December 8, 2011 - A. Marie Unangst, 51, left this place to join her Lord and Savior after a brief and valiant battle against pancreatic cancer at the Polidori House in Lake Havasu City, with family members at her side. Marie was born to Albert Phillip Schoffmann and Anna Marie (Stangl) Schoffmann April 28, 1960, in Terre Haute, Indiana. Marie was a graduate of Perdue with a BS Degree in mechanical engineering and also graduated from Depauw University with a business administration degree. Marie moved to Lake Havasu City 7? years ago from San Diego, Calif., where she had lived for 20 years. Marie met her husband, Bob, in Chula Vista in 1990, and they were married Nov. 2, 1994, in Las Vegas, Nev. She was a loving wife, devoted and caring mother, compassionate teacher, and coach. Marie was an entrepreneur and had been self-employed for the last 18 years. She formed Advanced Material Technologies to offer government and commercial clients corrosion engineering and coating services in San Diego, which she dissolved upon moving to Lake Havasu. She then started Tri-State Technologies with her husband and transitioned to designing, implementing, and programming home automation, audio/video and low voltage wiring solutions. Marie was a dedicated and hardworking individual always giving 110 percent. Marie loved the Lake, boating, swimming, tubing, wakeboarding and especially teaching the children and teens to wakeboard. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and helping to spread the joy of Jesus with the community. Marie was involved in the Lady of the Lake and Grace Episcopal Handbell choirs, at times playing up to 8 bells at a time. She played in several poker leagues and was always at the top of her game. She had an infectious personality and was comfortable anywhere from the ballroom to the desert on a quad, always going, never slowing down. Marie was a loyal friend and touched all of those around her with her kindness, loving spirit, empathy, selflessness and vibrant energy. She always had a smile on her face and a laugh that was contagious. She is survived by her husband, Bob; mother, Anna Schoffmann; brother, Ben Schoffmann; sons, Thomas Robinson and Brandon Unangst; daughter, Kristin (Unangst) Lupo; grandchildren, Cash Jeremy Lupo, Cayci Jai Lefrebrve, Raelyn Poulin, Cycle Chaplin, Cory Chaplin and Colby Unangst. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Schoffmann. A Memorial Service for Marie will be at Mt. Olive Church, Lake Havasu City Saturday at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Marie’s Memory to Polidori House, Hospice of Havasu, 365 S. Lake Havasu Ave, P.O. Box 597 Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405. A light lunch will be served in the parish hall immediately following the service.
