LUKUS, Ray G.


Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Monday, October 18, 1999 Ray G. Lukus, 76, died at his home in Flagstaff Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, after a lengthy illness. He was born March 24, 1923, in Flagstaff and attended local schools. Mr. Lukus served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 and served in the Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Rebel MInesweeper. On Sept. 8, 1942, he married Dixie Jo Cockrell. He owned and operated General Automotive at 5 E. Benton, for more than 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and I.O.O.F. Flagstaff Lodge #11. He is survived by: his wife, Dixie Jo Lukus of Flagstaff; daughter, Doris VanArsdale of Kingman; son, Larry Lukus of Flagstaff; sisters, Rachel Smith of Auburn, Wash., Ruth Graves of Waskom, Texas, and Claudia Bowers of Eagar, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Alfred Lukus; and brothers, Ragnar and Bob Lukus. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, in the Odd Fellow Section of Citizens Cemetery. The family requests memorial donations to be sent to Northland Hospice, P.O. Box 997, Flagstaff, AZ 86002.Norvel Owens Mortuary of Winslow is in charge of arrangements.
